Tackle hardship & waste.

We are not asking for spare change.

What I do doesn't make a difference.

Turn your excess clothing into impact.
Clothing kids. Reducing waste. Creating ripples.
Ripple is a circular social enterprise tackling both hardship and waste - through a system that takes everything, not just the good stuff.
We don’t just pass on clothing to kids and teens living in hardship - we repair what we can, and repurpose or recycle what we can’t. Every item is sorted with care and redirected to where it can do the most good - whether that’s clothing a child or becoming a new product that stays out of landfill.
Ripple helps families, businesses and schools turn clutter into care and waste into resource - proving that even small actions can create lasting change.

What we do
Ripple collects, sorts, and redistributes outgrown and excess children’s and teens clothing and shoes from families, schools, businesses, and retailers across Aotearoa. Quality items are delivered as Gear Boxes to children living in hardship through our trusted community partners. Anything beyond repair is repurposed or recycled into new products including our very own RePack - giving materials a second life.
Every item that enters our system is reused or recycled, and individual impact stats are shared with each supporter, making their own ripple effect clear.
It’s a simple, powerful way for Kiwis to reduce material hardship, textile waste, and even their household carbon footprint - in a way that’s easy for them, right from their home, school, or workplace.

Why we exist
-
The Need
We suffer from one of the worst rates of child poverty in the Western world with one in eight kids going without basic essentials items.
-
The Excess
Many families find themselves with an excess of outgrown or unwanted clothing and shoes and are wanting easy, sustainable ways to pass these items on.
-
The Waste
Textiles are one of the fastest growing, carbon intensive waste streams, responsible for up to 10% of global carbon emissions alongside oil, gas and agriculture.

The Gear Box
A Ripple Gear Box provides all the clothing essentials a child needs day to day throughout the year. These clothing parcels save families between $200-$400 per year and are distributed through Women’s Refuge Auckland and Rotorua, Cholmondeley Children's Centre Christchurch, Oranga Tamariki Ministry for Children, Starship Foundation and Middlemore Neonatal Unit.
Families can receive one Gear Box per child per year, once these are outgrown they can send their items back through our system for either reuse or recycling.
We provide loose items for our teens, so they can have the dignity to choose what they wear.
Thanks to you
"We have had many whānau tell us how grateful they are as they struggle to have age-appropriate and good-quality clothing for their tamariki. It is great that we can pass Ripple Gear Boxes on to them."
Sue Gill
Oranga Tamariki
"The mother who received the parcel was incredibly grateful, she isn’t someone to display a massive amount of open joy due to a very challenging life of adversity. However, when she opened the box with the tissue wrapping detail, she was so happy and immediately put one of the outfits on her daughter. Thank you for the work you’re doing; you made a difference."
Nurse Specialist
Auckland Hospital
"Mum was really excited to be able to gift some of the items to her son for his birthday, as well as to have warm winter clothes for all the children."
Oranga Tamariki staff
"The Mum of three boys, was so grateful and appreciated the help. It felt like Christmas. The youngest had to try everything on."
Oranga Tamariki staff
"I just went through the parcel and you have made my day. They’re so beautiful and warm and wanted to express how thankful I am."
Gear Box Recipient
"Both the (new) Mum & I were shocked at how much was in the Gear Box, and the quality was awesome."
Amy McDaid
Middlemore Neonatal Unit Nurse
"The three boys are stoked with their box of clothes, they were wearing them when I saw them yesterday. Their Dad said they got some awesome gears and is very grateful and would like to pass on his thanks."
Oranga Tamariki staff
"We are very grateful for the support. Having clothes for our fast-growing baby has helped a lot."
Gear Box Recipient
"For the women we support, it’s such a beautiful gift for them to know they have a whole year’s worth of clothes for their tamariki. The impact it makes to the women and children is huge."
