Making movement #5 BTS of building Ripple

Together, we’ve just hit a major milestone - over 4 tonnes of clothing processed!
That’s 32,806 items reused, repaired and recycled to support tamariki and cut down on textile waste.

This last tonne has been the slowest.
And it reflects the current economic environment, but our little enterprise is working hard to hang in there. Because we believe the environmental impact and the tamariki we support, are worth it.

We’ve also just launched a brand-new website to make it easier than ever to choose how you support us. Make sure you follow our blog for tips on clearing household items more sustainably and keeping your clothes in use for longer.

👖 Growing with your kids

We’re now accepting clothing (+ shoes and togs) for teenagers up to 16 years old.

Demand from community partners and requests from you made it clear: rangatahi need support too.

It also means we get to welcome back some of the incredible families who had outgrown Ripple. We’ve missed you!

💼 Calling all businesses

Whether it’s a bin in the office or a sponsored bin out in your community, a Ripple Bin is a simple, powerful way to bring your values to life.

📲 Ripple Bins just levelled up
They’re now QR code–enabled so your team or community can scan, track and share the impact of their donations.

💻 RePack collaboration

We recently teamed up with Recycle A Device, The Aunties, Christchurch Boys’ High School to get refurbished laptops into the hands of wahine rebuilding their lives after domestic abuse.

Each laptop was protected with a Ripple RePack made from our own recycled textile waste.

📍 Tauranga Community Bin

A reminder for our Tauranga whānau, you can now drop off kids’ clothing at Envirohub Bay of Plenty, thanks to Tauranga City Council.

Location: 31B Glasgow Street, Tauranga
🕒 Mon–Thu10–2pm

We’d love to see more communities follow Tauranga’s lead. 💚

🥘 Time to tackle toys

Following our successful toy reuse and recycling pilot with Downer, our Toy Bins are now available.

While clothing and shoes remain our top priority, toys play a vital role in childhood. Every child deserves access to quality play. This fits into our mission: supporting kids today, while protecting their future.

🌍 Why toys matter

♻️ 80% of toys end up in landfill, incinerators or the ocean.
🌿 Most toys don’t biodegrade, they release microplastics and harmful emissions for centuries.

What’s coming next?

With our trackable, circular system in full swing - from home, school, and workplace clothing collection to toy bins and closed-loop recycling - we’re turning our focus to who Ripple was built for: our kids.

We’re creating simple kid-friendly tools that show how small sustainable choices add up and sharing empowering real-world circular solutions to inspire action.

Four tonnes in, we know this: the world can’t recycle its way out of where we are. Behaviour change matters - and that starts with hope.

That’s where we think we can help. We’ve got the data to prove that small actions do make a big difference. We can’t wait to see what ripples we create next, together.

Thank you for your continued support and for being a vital part of the Ripple Movement.❤️
