Make a difference – without leaving the house. We take your unwanted or outgrown kids’ clothing regardless of condition. From there, quality items are passed on for community good and items that are beyond repair and repurposing are sent to our recycling partners. Once your items enter our system, everything is reused or recycled and you will receive a breakdown of your impact.
On average, one Ripple Collection Bag:
- Contributes towards at least two Gear Box clothing parcels, clothing a child for a year at a time and saving their family between $200-400 per year.
- Reduces textiles going to landfill which prevents approximately 2.4 kg of Greenhouse Gasses from entering the atmosphere.
Our Collection Bags are sized A1 (450mm by 540mm) and can take up to 5kg of clothing. These bags are made with 80% recycled plastic, are made in NZ and can be re-recycled through your local soft plastic collection. Â

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
What size is the Collection Bag?
Collection Bags are sized A1 (450mm by 540mm) and can take up to 5kg of clothing. These bags are made with 80% recycled plastic, are made in NZ and can be re-recycled through your local soft plastic collection. Â
What clothing don’t you accept?
Unwashed clothing
Underwear, nappies and socks
Bibs
Hats
Clothing for adults and kids over 12 years
Do you accept shoes?
Yes, your clean, great quality shoes will be sent to our community partners for reuse. At this time, we cannot recycle shoes.
Do you accept baby swaddles and wraps?
Yes, as well as supplying our Gear Boxes, we have requests from local neonatal units for these items.
Do you accept togs?
Yes, if they’re brand new but magically outgrown before they even got a chance to be worn – we’ll give them a new home.  If they’re worn out, they get a second life through our textile recycling partner.Â
Do you accept cloth/reusable nappies, bed linen, sheets, blankets, duvets?
Thank you for checking, we currently do not take these items.
Why is there a cost to send my items?
We know this is different model. Just as we pay to dispose items at landfill and pay for our kerbside rubbish and recycling collections, this is a user pays system. This fee allows us to gift our Gear Boxes completely free of charge to those that need them most and take care of the waste. Specifically it contributes towards the costs involved including collection, hand sorting, repair & materials, textile recycling (per kg) and for the items and transport we need to get our Gear Boxes out the door.Â
Is Ripple a charity?
We are a social enterprise. We hope to be in this for the long haul and are working towards a financially sustainable model so that we do not need to rely on donations or funding to stay afloat in the long term, leaving us to focus on our social and environmental objectives.
